You want to retain beauty

Paint it in permanence

Capture it in creases

of shrivelled palms

Hoard it

Store it

Wear it out

Petals press into parchment

Blotches of ink

flutter off pages

to emboss leaf veins

Nectar drips

Honey leaks

Words are garlanded in floral confetti

Left to hang

You make morgues

And strew them with words.

Cages rattle

Poetry hiccups

Dead flowers nest

Spine to spine

Flowers festoon your hair

Butchered corollas

croon in your bookshelves

No body turns

To face the sun

Loneliness feeds

off perpetuated prettiness

We kiss dead bodies

  1. Admiring the effort and time you put into your site and in depth information you present. It’s good to find a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old spun information. Fantastic article! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
